How Spam Safe Mail works (Technical) |
||
| On the Internet in front of our email
servers, we have a class leading email spam filtering system
that looks at the email as it is flowing from the Internet into the email
server. We additionally check the address of the sending email
server and look it up on the register of spamming mail servers at SpamHaus.
All these checks ensure that any unwanted emails are held at bay by the
network before they reach our email servers and your email mail box.
If the senders server is not forged, then we will scan the email to see
what it contains. If it clearly is from a financial institution
asking you to verify your banking credentials (of which a Bank will never
ask you to do this) we will block it. We will also block emails that
are of an adult sexual nature and emails from foreign ex heads of state
(as if they would ever write to you).
If the email looks like it is either:-
then our filter will attempt to detect it and stop the transmission. Our filter will then reply to the original email server with an email error message explaining that the email has been rejected and the reason for the objection. It will also mention to contact you by telephone ensuring that no important emails are lost. If you receive a telephone call from someone who has been "rejected", simply ask them for their email address and email them a blank email (via an email address set up on our email system) to unblock them. Our server will then know that this person is "safe" and so will add them to a safe white list of email addresses that are allowed to contact you. From that point onwards, that person (or rather email address) can email you with no further hindrance from our email filtering service. If the filter misses an email and you receive an unwanted spam email, then simply forward the email to spam@spamsafemail.net and this will update our anti spam filters so that it will learn from its mistake for both you and others. Please *DO NOT* reply to a spam email, nor ask to be "unsubscribed" because you will be adding them to the safe white list of addresses allowed to email you, undoing our work. Please read the section on General Spam Advice. |
